SCOTT SHALETT

SENIOR ADVISOR

Scott Shalett is a result oriented, critical thinker with a background in strategic planning, policy analysis and political organizing. His work experience includes positions as a manager, business owner, consultant and team player. He has organized and overseen budgets, strategic planning and political campaigns in numerous regions of the country. He has held leadership positions at every level, in government and in corporate public affairs. 

As a consultant, Shalett works with corporate, nonprofit and political clients to design, manage and execute comprehensive grassroots, advocacy, and communications efforts. As the Managing Partner and Head of Public Affairs at Medora Strategies, Shalett has focused on supporting a diverse group of clients interested in leveraging the recently passed Opportunity Zone law and manages a strong portfolio of clients focused on creating strong market growth or policy framework for their business. He is a co-founder of OZ.GUIDE and leads public affairs and civic engagement strategies for Launch Pad Management, LLC. 

In 2017 and 2018, Shalett worked with the US Conference of Mayors to coordinate the public affairs and policy direction conference President, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, New Orleans as well as select corporate and nonprofit clients to help build relationships and position them to impact their policy, marketing or overall advocacy or brand impressions with target audiences. 

From 2013 to 2016, Shalett was the Head of Civic Engagement at JPMorgan Chase & Co. In this Position, Shalett was responsible for managing the grassroots and community outreach for the bank. He managed a national department that coordinated with the Corporate Responsibility, Global Philanthropy and Government Relations departments to recruit, train and deploy JPMC community ambassadors to over 50 events a month across the country that engaged civic and community leaders and stakeholders to support key philanthropic initiatives and establish stronger relationships in those communities. 

Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, from 2007 to 2013, Shalett was a Principal at Dewey Square Group, a grassroots and advocacy public affairs firm in Washington DC. At Dewey Square, Shalett managed high profile political, corporate and non-profit public affairs campaigns for the firm’s top clients. From 2004 – 2007, Shalett served as Chief of Staff for Louisiana Lt. Governor Mitchell J. Landrieu. As Chief of staff, Shalett was responsible for the policy and political direction of the Lt. Governor’s office and the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism. 

Shalett was a partner in a public affairs and political consulting firm between 1998 and 2003. During this period, in 2000, he served as the Southern Political Desk at the Democratic National Committee and directed Vice-President Al Gore’s Get-Out-the-Vote effort for the 2000 Iowa Caucuses. He served as the Field Director for Michigan U.S. Senator Carl Levin’s re-election campaign in 1996 and directed City Council relations for New Orleans Mayor Marc Morial from 1994 to 1996. 

Shalett was selected as one of the “Rising Stars of Politics” by Campaigns and Elections Magazine in 2002.
